I have a friend who was in a terrible motorcycle accident late this summer. Five broken ribs, lacerated stomach, chipped hip, broken scapula.Thirteen days in the hospital, three surgeries, and then Ray’s detour took him through long months recovering on his couch.
Now he’s back playing hockey in his late 60’s.
Yep. While the motorcycle’s been sold, Ray’s got a new lease on life and is back doing what he loves.
At a recent reunion lunch with high school buddies, one of them told Ray he was crazy for playing. Life is an inherently risky business, isn’t it, to play is always a choice.
What do you think? How far are you willing to go to do what you love?
Passion fuels us and in many ways keeps us young. That’s why it’s so important to keep challenging ourselves. We’re training our minds to keep sharpening their blades and create new patterns through the sometimes hard surfaces of life.
There’s always detours, some of them longer than others. On the bench or back in the game, it’s your call.
