About BK Wellness
About Barb Kahovec, CYT, PM
I completed my teacher training at the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago in 2001. In 2010, I began training in Pilates with Balanced Body to further my knowledge of mind-body modalities and have completed all the training in the apparatus. Always a student of these amazing practices, I am also certified as a minister, Access Consciousness provider and currently enrolled in a Pilates Masterclass with Lynda Lippin.
I’ve also run wellness programs at a college focusing on meditation, Hatha yoga and Pilates as well as taught these practices to many individuals for over 20 years. I’ve written handbooks, blogs, and I’m passionate about bringing my writing and creative insight to every client.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or simply want to say hello. Drop me an email and follow me on Facebook and Instagram. Sign up for our weekly blog posts to receive a free back care guide just for you. I look forward to connecting with you.
Why Pilates?
Pilates is the continual art of transforming. This is an ongoing practice of fine-tuning ourselves, bringing our true self to light. Through this practice, we begin to see everything is connected. As we change the way we see things, the things we see change – exponentially. Join one of my Pilates or mat classes, or feel free to book a personal session.
Why Yoga?
I’ve always believed the inner adventure is as profound as the outer one. The first time I walked into the yoga studio at 16 something stirred deep within me. Yoga gave me roots to come home to as I felt the presence of this ancient practice, but also wings to fly open-hearted into the face of this adventure we call life.
Why CBD?
CBD is getting lots of attention these days, and with good reason. It’s a natural way to help restore your body and a natural anti-inflammatory. It’s another great tool I offer to help you come into your own and find greater health and well-being. You can find more information here.
Why Mindfulness?
My classes always begin with moments of mindfulness and setting an intention. I love to weave meaningful sequences and provide a focus for each class that builds strength and suppleness in the mind and muscles. The ending in my classes is often the beginning of understanding the depth of practice where we take the inner work home.
