
How much water do you really need?
The recommended 8 glasses a day is still the standard.
Everywhere you go seems like people are carrying giant jugs of water. Water is essential, but how much do we need without going overboard?
Drink a glass first thing in the morning, spruce it up with lemon if you like, and then add more as you move through your day. Interestingly enough, whole milk, skim milk, and orange juice and also excellent hydrators.
H20 is your body’s primary chemical component and makes up to 50 to 70 percent of your body weight. Your cells need water to function.
And if you exercise, you need water before and after a workout, even if you don’t feel sweaty. You lose essential fluids as you pump your resistance bands and reach into those 100’s, and those fluids need to be replenished.
If you work out a lot, consider electrolyte water because it helps restore minerals like sodium, potassium, and magnesium which are important at the cellular level.
How can you tell if you need more water? It’s really simple, if you’re thirsty you need more. Maybe not a gallon-size jug, a full glass will fill you just fine.
