Do you ever feel like managing your body is like navigating a leaky boat? Kinda like you address one issue, think you’re good to go, and then something else pops up and you’re stuck in pain all over again.

Ah yes, welcome to the aging process!

It’s like my client walking in with severe back pain, the kind that kept throbbing while working a full day, driving long distances, walking for exercise. Once we began healing his SI Joint, his left knee began aching, then the right.

So it goes for many of us, myself included, we patch the injury and then it feels like something else starts up.

See, there’s a pecking order to pain and the more you know your body, the easier it is to right the ship, so to speak.

Your body always goes to the biggest fire, the most painful area, first. Since your spine is essential to moving, your body prioritizes this injury. Like an all out four-alarm call, there’s mechanisms in play protecting your back and keeping you from injuring yourself further.

Once this fire’s out, your body now has the resources to address the smaller fires. And that’s why the knee, the foot or other restricted areas may now come to the surface.

That’s why it’s essential to stay the course, working through sometimes painful ups and downs, and doing the right exercises to keep things in check. As you begin to understand your pain, you’ll notice it ebbs and flows then starts to dissipate.

Exercise is your ticket to a relatively pain-free life. While there’s no guarantees, it’s your best bet to righting the ship and moving forward.
