Even in busy times, my family of origin gathered around the dinner table and before anyone could pick up a fork, we said grace. Every single night, two parents, twelve kids, two labs, we started dinner with grace.

With every grace comes gratitude, doesn’t it? Gratitude for the traditions served to us, and for the ones we’re serving up.

I marvel at this feat of family engineering and wonder what traditions you grew up with and are bringing to your table?

Seems like giving thanks always gives way to bigger helpings of thanks giving. In the spiritual steps I practice, they teach even in the darkest of times there is much to be grateful for. It’s true. Grace and gratitude change the way we see things like a pair of 2+ readers bringing real life in view.

That’s why it’s important not to get tripped into the trappings of Christmas even with every store aisle brimming with holiday decorations and Nat King Cole blaring.

Thanksgiving is important. Thanksgiving is important to all of us. Thanksgiving gives us that chance to open our hearts along with filling our plates.

I’m grateful this holiday. Grateful for all of you and the grace that keeps me going. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends!
