“I want you to read the lines as far down as you can,” my fav eye doctor said, “see how far you can go.”

Perhaps you’re like me, thinking your vision just isn’t what it used to be. My work at State Farm has me switching from screen to screen, from this typeface to tiny print in the blink of an eye.

Convinced I needed to jack up my glasses, Dr. Teraji said, “the muscles of the eyes weaken as we get older. You can strengthen them by looking away and then looking back at your screen.”

I expected him to add, “Do this 15 times, three times a day,” but I guess that’s up to viewer discretion. I certainly am going to try it and will report back.

Joseph Pilates knew what we focus on matters. Keeping your vision focused helps strengthen your attention; keeping your attention focused helps strengthen your vision.

If your eyes are like mine and need strengthening, find your focus with Pilates and build from there. The focal point isn’t about achieving perfection, it is about becoming the best we can.
