As I mentioned in my FB Live this morning, I’m reading this good book, “The Consistency Chain for Network Marketing” by George Campbell and Jim Packard. While written for networkers, it’s a quick read with ideas that apply to everyone.
What keeps you from being consistent?
Breaking out of old habits and starting new ones is what consistency is all about. Overstating the obvious, I know, but sometimes truth bears repeating until we’re ready to forge ahead.
The book talks about Jerry Seinfeld and his “$800 Million Dollar Idea.” After working as a stand-up for 10 years with lukewarm success, George Campbell goes to see Seinfeld live and is blown away. The talent, the delivery, the one-liners, all top of the genre. Later, Campbell reads an interview where Seinfeld shares the secret of his success and how it led to the sale of his TV sitcom for $800 Mil.
“One day I woke up and saw I wasn’t that good,” Seinfeld says, “so I sat down and made myself write a joke every single day and then I never broke the chain. I wrote jokes every single day. That’s how I got better.”
